Using a smooth ultrasound probe, the dermatologist first examines the skin and then sends precisely targeted pulses of intense ultrasound to the depth of the supporting tissue (up to 4-5 mm), where the best tightening results are achieved. The superficial layers of the skin remain intact and the skin begins to form new collagen, which gradually tightens and recedes. Ultherapia targets the deep supportive tissue (SMAS) that surgeons strengthen during a traditional facelift.
