Deep Plane Facelift & Deep Plane NeckLift

The most advanced surgical technique that effectively reduces signs of aging on the face

The procedure targets the jawline area, enhancing its natural contour, defining the jaw angle, and effectively eliminating so-called “jowls“ (prejowl sulcus). In the midface region, it lifts the tissues behind the nasolabial fold and extends up to the area under the eyes, where it elevates the cheeks, resulting in a more harmonious and youthful appearance. The procedure also includes a Deep Plane NeckLift – a surgical technique focused on rejuvenating the neck. It removes excess skin, tightens the underlying muscles, and significantly improves the contour of both the neck and jawline. At our clinic, this advanced technique – known for its natural-looking, long-lasting results and shorter, more comfortable recovery – is performed exclusively by Dr. Juraj Gajdoš, MBA.

Benefits of the Extended Deep Plane FaceLift & Deep Plane NeckLift

The extended Deep Plane FaceLift represents a comprehensive surgical approach to rejuvenating the key areas of the face and neck. This procedure involves a series of interconnected steps that together deliver a harmonious, natural, and long-lasting result:

  • lifting and enhancing the cheekbone area,
  • smoothing the nasolabial region,
  • creating a smooth, defined jawline,
  • improving the angle between the neck and the jaw (deep plane necklift),
  • mobilizing the midface, which lifts the cheeks and restores lost volume – resulting in a refreshed and youthful appearance of the entire face.

An integral part of this technique is the Deep Plane NeckLift, which significantly rejuvenates and tightens the neck area. It offers several aesthetic benefits:

  • improves the contour of the neck and jawline,
  • eliminates the so-called “double chin” and fat pads,
  • tightens the underlying soft tissues and muscles.

This refined technique allows not only for visible rejuvenation but also for the restoration of the face and neck’s natural dynamics.

Deep Plane vs. Classic Facelift

The Deep Plane facelift utilizes a different philosophy in manipulating facial structures.

Classic Facelift: In this technique, the SMAS (superficial muscular aponeurotic system) and platysma remain firmly attached to the facial musculature. The skin is released from the SMAS and pulled to the desired position using sutures, which can lead to a more taut appearance.

Deep Plane Facelift: The SMAS and platysma are released and repositioned to their original places. The skin remains firmly connected to the SMAS, ensuring a natural and long-lasting effect.

Preoperative Preparation

After consulting with the surgeon, the patient will secure all necessary preoperative examinations. For optimal recovery, we recommend:

  • No smoking for at least 21 days before surgery.
  • No alcohol consumption for at least 10 to 14 days before surgery.
  • Maintaining excellent health condition.
  • Stopping blood-thinning medications (or replacing them after consulting with a doctor).

Surgical Procedure

The Deep Plane FaceLift & Deep Plane NeckLift is performed under sedation, which we prefer due to its smoother recovery process, or under general anesthesia if necessary. The procedure typically takes around 3 hours, or 4 to 5 hours when combined with additional procedures.

We often combine the Deep Plane FaceLift & Deep Plane NeckLift with other surgeries such as brow lift, eyelid surgery, or submental liposuction (under-chin fat removal).

The technique involves precise release and repositioning of deep facial tissues, with a strong emphasis on preserving the natural anatomy and contours of the face.

Recovery

  • Immediately after the procedure: The patient will stay under the clinic's care for the following night, where they are closely monitored and provided with maximum comfort in our superior accommodation area.
  • The morning after the procedure: The patient will return home, accompanied by a close person.
  • First days: Swelling and bruising may occur, which usually subside after 10 to 14 days. These symptoms are normal and typically diminish within the first few days.
  • Daily activities: The patient can return to regular activities after 2 weeks, during which we recommend rest in a home environment.
  • Physical exertion: Intense exercise is allowed after 4 weeks.
  • Follow-up appointments at the clinic: The first, after 10 to 14 days, when stitches are removed, and the second after 3 months.
  • Final results: Visible after several months when the tissues fully settle. The healing process is individual and depends on the patient's regenerative ability and adherence to postoperative instructions.

Possible Risks

As with any surgical procedure, there are certain risks involved with facelifts. The client is thoroughly informed about all possible complications during the consultation. The most common risks include:

  • Infection: May occur due to inadequate wound hygiene.
  • Scarring: Resulting scars are often well concealed in the hair.
  • Change in sensitivity: Sensitivity in the forehead or brow may be temporarily altered during healing.

Nerve impact: Manipulation near facial nerves may cause partial dysfunction, which typically resolves over time.
